2 Months Old

Saywer is 2 months old! He's still a little guy at a 8 pounds 12 ounces, but he has changed so much in a month. He loves getting out of the house and strolling around town. Letting me get my workout on so I can drop the rest of the baby chub. Sawyer is sporting his pumpkin hat which matches perfectly with his pumpkin pj's. He was not super happy with the photo shoot, but I managed to snap this right before he started screaming...you can tell his mouth is open and ready to belt one out!

Maternity Leave

When I used to see women go on maternity leave I thought they were so lucky. Three months of vacation and you get paid for it...sign me up! I kind of forgot about the part of taking care of another human being. Minor detail. I might not be getting much done these days, but I'm starting to see the rewards.

There has been huge changes this week. I'm seeing smiles...although I still question if the are gas related. Sawyer is also holding onto things and "playing" (I use this word loosely) with toys. With a little more sleep and the return of my sanity things are looking up!

Game Night!

I always love Labor Day weekend. Not only do you have a 3-day weekend, but as my husband Derek says "It's the gateway to Fall." Which happens to be our favorite season (a close second to Winter). Strange for two people that live in sunny Southern California, but that's another story.

This weekend we found a fun way to celebrate the holiday with a newborn...GAME NIGHT! The baby goes to sleep and we got down to business:

Game night decor...check!

Games...check! Our all time fav is Apples to Apples. We play it at most family gatherings and Battle of the Sexes was something I picked up to spice things up. It was a fun icebreaker.

Get our drink on with friends...done and done!

1 Month Old

I can hardly believe our boy Sawyer is 1 month old today! Time has flown by and our little guy is getting bigger and becoming more alert to his surroundings. I painted a door in his nursery with chalkboard paint. I love the idea of constantly changing out the artwork to add freshness to the room. Plus, how cool would it be to write on the walls as a kid and NOT get in trouble?

Thank a Nurse

On July 28, 2013 our boy Sawyer was born into this world! Our lives have not been the same since...to say the least. Before I get into baby news I'm going to play a little catch up. I want to share some pre baby prep that made our hospital visit much more comfortable.

You might choose your doctor, but you don't pick your nurses. They really do a lot of the hard labor (pun intended) when you have your little one. I wanted to make sure they knew just how much I appreciated all they do. Oh ok, I also wanted to kiss a little you butt to make sure I got treated right! Couldn't hurt...right?

Who doesn't like a basket full of goodies?

Step 1:  The goods - My idea was to provide some snack essentials, sweet treats, and I followed that up with some gum.

Step 2:  I grabbed some crafting supplies I had around the house. The bow ties came from my baby shower which had a little man theme. I also used a gift bag that had a cute pattern and coordinated with the colors I used in the basket.

Step 3:  Write a cute thank you note letting the nurses know they are appreciated.

Step 4:  Style it up! Large items in the back and I used crumbled tissue paper to raise some up some of the snacks. I taped my thank you note onto a popsicle stick to make it stand out. I added the bow ties for the final touch! 

Most of the nurses that came into our room mentioned how much they appreciated the basket. A little kindness really does go a long way. I was really glad I did this! The nurses that helped us where truly remarkable!
