Newborn Photography

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Sawyer's first birthday is quickly approaching. As I started planning for his party I began to reminisce about those first few weeks at home. Sawyer was two weeks old when we had newborn photos taken. Have you ever wondered how they do it? Me too! Here are some photos I snapped to document the process.

I was lucky enough to find the photographer Jen Gagliardi. She had such a way with Sawyer and made our family feel at ease.

It was fascinating to watch her work. I had no idea what it would take to make the photos happen. Jen used a giant bean bag, sound machine, props and her natural charm to get Saywer posed like pro.

I'm so happy we took these photos. It's a time in his life I never want to forget. Such precious moments we are fortunate enough to have captured.

9 Months Old

Thursday, May 15, 2014

Sawyer is 9 months old! This was by far the hardest picture to take. Once I set Sawyer down he was on a mad dash to explore his room. I finally cut out a bunch of foam flowers to occupy him. It worked!

When I found out I was pregnant with a boy I instantly became obsessed with finding cute boy accessories. I bought this fedora last year, but there is a similar one here.

Red Balloons for Ryan

Thursday, May 8, 2014

I have seen the imagery of red balloons and objects all over Instagram. I didn't understand why until I read the tragic story of 3 1/2 year old Ryan...my heart ached. I cannot imagine the pain his family feels. Such an innocent and precious life taken far too soon. My heart goes out to all that loved this little boy and especially his parents. You can read more of this story here.

The beauty in this is the love and support that arises from such sorrow. Spread the word and show your support. #redballoonsforryan

Shout Out to the Mamas!

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

This one is for you! A little hand drawing made by me especially for you (or your mama).
I'm posting this early so you can print this out and stick it on your Mother's Day card.
Or use it how you like for personal use only.

Sunday marks my first Mother's Day. Last night when I put Sawyer to sleep I held him in my arms and took in the moment. What a joy he has been in my life. I am so thankful for my little soybean and even if he woke up every two hours (sleep has been an issue the last few nights) I wouldn't mind. I am having so much fun watching him develop. I can't wait to see the person he grows into.
