Spa Birthday Basket

Sunday, October 26, 2014

This little basket did double duty for my pregnant friend on her birthday. I thought a relaxing spa birthday basket was just in order for the mother-to-be. My rules for putting together a basket are simple...pick a theme...pick a color scheme...make sure you can fit it all in the basket! This gift comes from the heart and you can completely customize your basket based the recipients taste and needs. Happy basket making!

Coming to America - Welcome Basket

Friday, August 29, 2014

Lisa McDowell:  So why did you come here?
Prince Akeem:  To find something special.
Lisa McDowell:  It's a long way to travel.
Prince Akeem:  No journey is too great when one finds what he seeks.

I couldn't resist using Coming to America in this post. I'm a lover of 80s flicks and this one was classic! When I learned we would have family traveling from Rome staying with us...I instantly wanted to put together a fun basket full of goodies.

After getting married our relatives traveled to California for their honeymoon. They were doing a road trip starting in Southern California ending in Northern California. My idea was to give them some snacks and goodies to use on the road. This is all fun stuff that they might not otherwise try or have in Italy. Mainly consisting of quintessential American junk food.

The contents:
Cooler, Twinkies, Girl Scout Bars (cookies are out of season and these are the next best thing), gum, suntan lotion, Map of the United States, hand sanitizers, wet wipes, Boom Chicka Pop Kettle Corn, champagne, Pringles, iced coffee (yes, Starbucks is everywhere, but not all have iced drinks), gold fish, trashy magazine (bonus that Kim Kardashian is on the cover.)

I also included this hand lettered quote. I thought it was great for two people in love and traveling. Download a copy for free here.

New Home Welcome Basket

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Recently friends of ours purchased their first home. To warm their house and hearts I made a welcome basket.

I started with this adorable retro looking card.

For the contents of the basket I picked up some cleaning supplies. I love the packaging design of the
Mrs. Meyer's Cleaners. They come in a variety of scents and label colors. I went with a green theme and picked up some dishtowels to round out the basket.

Here is the finished product! I adore this small square basket also from Target found here. It's the absolute perfect size and style for almost any basket project. It also comes in a variety of fun colors. Tie a ribbon around it and call it a day...cleaning never looked so fun!

The Hangover Kit

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Recently my girlfriend asked for some help with a gift for her fiance. It reminded me this is too funny not to share! I originally made "The Hangover Kit" for Derek's bachelor party. I was leaving the same weekend for my bachelorette party and I wanted to leave a surprise care package for him. Ok, I also wanted him to remember what an amazing lady he was about to marry!

Items to include:
• Water (with a cute "Hydrate" label)
• Gum
• Breath mints
• Energy drink
• Urban Detox Function Drink (sold at CVS)
• Saltines
• Pepto-Bismol
• Hand sanitizer
• Chap Stick
• Face wipes
• Mouth wash
• Trash can (double use "basket" and holder of puke)

Stick everything in a trash can and call it a day. Your man is all set for a night of drinking. This would be also be great for a 21st Birthday or any celebration where you are expected to get your drink on! You can find all the printable items to make the kit here. Happy crafting!

Thank a Nurse

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

On July 28, 2013 our boy Sawyer was born into this world! Our lives have not been the same since...to say the least. Before I get into baby news I'm going to play a little catch up. I want to share some pre baby prep that made our hospital visit much more comfortable.

You might choose your doctor, but you don't pick your nurses. They really do a lot of the hard labor (pun intended) when you have your little one. I wanted to make sure they knew just how much I appreciated all they do. Oh ok, I also wanted to kiss a little you butt to make sure I got treated right! Couldn't hurt...right?

Who doesn't like a basket full of goodies?

Step 1:  The goods - My idea was to provide some snack essentials, sweet treats, and I followed that up with some gum.

Step 2:  I grabbed some crafting supplies I had around the house. The bow ties came from my baby shower which had a little man theme. I also used a gift bag that had a cute pattern and coordinated with the colors I used in the basket.

Step 3:  Write a cute thank you note letting the nurses know they are appreciated.

Step 4:  Style it up! Large items in the back and I used crumbled tissue paper to raise some up some of the snacks. I taped my thank you note onto a popsicle stick to make it stand out. I added the bow ties for the final touch!

Most of the nurses that came into our room mentioned how much they appreciated the basket. A little kindness really does go a long way. I was really glad I did this! The nurses that helped us where truly remarkable!
