3 Months Old

Monday, October 28, 2013

Sawyer is 3 months old! He is much more alert and curious about the world around him. He smiles when I talk to him and he copies faces I make. My favorite is when he puckers his lips together and wiggles his head side to side. It's the funniest thing to watch. He started grabbing onto his feet last week and loves to do yoga...you know "happy baby" pose. I also started teaching him basic sign language. One night when I was putting him to bed I swore he signed "milk". Then I read that babies his age start discovering their fingers and the next day I saw him check out his hand. I still wrote down in his baby book that he signed milk. It could have been...right? #babyeinstein

Pumpkin Pie Coffee Bar

After being pregnant I truly love my caffeine coffee. So, the pumpkin coffee bar was born!

Pumpkin Spice coffee K-Cup (I set my Keurig on the 7.25 oz small mug setting)
1/2 cup 1% lowfat or fat free milk
2 tbsp International Delight Pumpkin Spice Creamer

Sip and Enjoy!

hand-me-downs

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

I never say no to hand-me-downs...when it comes to the baby. First, it's expensive to buy everything yourself. Second, most items have hardly been used. Most important thing to remember...just because it's not your style does not mean it can't be turned into something amazing! This is a hand-me-down makeover:

Step 1:  Have a vision. I built my look around the "Major Cutie" onesie. It screamed military and I picked two pieces from my hand-me-down pile that fit the style.

Step 2:  Cut it up! I started by cutting the camo romper and then took the patch off the striped brown onesie as well as the snaps on the bottom of the garmet. I did a little hand sewing and tacked the cut pieces down.

Step 3:  Be open to changing your plan. If you cut to much be open to changing your plan. You may surprise yourself with a happy mistake.

Step 4:  Sit back and enjoy your work!

Taking a Sick Day

Monday, October 14, 2013

My afternoon...
Homemade ravioli class...manga, manga!!! It felt so GOOD to get out and enjoy learning something new with a girlfriend. As a new mother I need this, and I deserve it. That's what I keep telling myself. ;)

My night...
Started with a gooey eye and ended with being covered in thrown up milk. When your child is not 100%, everything shuts down. No one or nothing matters more then the health of your little one. We snuggled and soothed Sawyer until he fell asleep. In the morning we went to the doctor and found out since his tear ducts are still developing he needs drops for his eye (just the one with goo), nose needs suctioning (of boogers...joy :/), and he has acid reflex. All normal for a newborns. Now I can wipe the sweat off my brow and rest easy tonight.

That summed up our Sunday. I leave you with a super yummy and easy fall dinner idea. I know it's simple because after all that it's what was for dinner tonight (it's Monday btw)! It looked gourmet and took under 30 minutes. Beat that Racheal Ray (whom I adore by the way)!

The Hangover Kit

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Recently my girlfriend asked for some help with a gift for her fiance. It reminded me this is too funny not to share! I originally made "The Hangover Kit" for Derek's bachelor party. I was leaving the same weekend for my bachelorette party and I wanted to leave a surprise care package for him. Ok, I also wanted him to remember what an amazing lady he was about to marry!

Items to include:
• Water (with a cute "Hydrate" label)
• Gum
• Breath mints
• Energy drink
Urban Detox Function Drink (sold at CVS)
• Saltines
• Pepto-Bismol
• Hand sanitizer
• Chap Stick
• Face wipes
• Mouth wash
• Trash can (double use "basket" and holder of puke)

Stick everything in a trash can and call it a day. Your man is all set for a night of drinking. This would be also be great for a 21st Birthday or any celebration where you are expected to get your drink on! You can find all the printable items to make the kit here. Happy crafting!
